Emulation Camp brings together restoration and preservation work of the 80s/90s video game heritage. Emulation Camp was originally an emulator site created by Omar Cornut (“Soul Bubbles”, “DearImGui”, “Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap”…), maintained by a team of enthusiasts. After the site fell into disuse, I was able to take over the domain name to rebuild an emulator index. Subsequently, related projects have been added.

Emucamp.com compiles emulators for about twenty machines.
In order to maintain a list of several hundreds of emulators by myself, I developed Emucamp Engine, a Python program that explores a list of sources, downloads the emulators when possible, and updates the entire site structure. The logic of Emucamp Engine allows it to operate as an archiving system when the site hosting an emulator disappears. Emucamp Engine is an open-source project.

Covers compiles restorations of game covers, reconstructed with current DTP tools. Initially launched as a tribute to Michel Rho’s illustration work for ERE Informatique, the site offers a collection of digitized paintings and restored or reconstructed video game covers or boxes. Scanned images are de-screened and retouched. Original typographies are identified in order to find modern digital equivalents. Logos are vectorized.

Emucamp Youtube offers video captures of video games and demos, with a focus on the machines designed around the 80s.
The videos are created from emulators, captured at the highest possible frequency, and re-encoded to preserve pixel appearance, even on HD screens.
As of September 2016, the Emucamp channel has 160 videos, 120 subscribers, and 94,000 views.
